Park-life

A space to escape reality
Providing a secure place to play
For some a place to reflect
To give the date a romantic effect
To educate a child
A chance to run wild
Or away.
A celebration day
To lose the pounds
Listening to new sounds
To appreciate your existence
When you are feeling too tense
To disguise the conversation pause
Following an ecological cause
For sport, and other recreation
With children, it is all re-creation
As their parents memories come alive
Ensuring warped memories survive.
Some are at one with nature
Most need that connection to mature.
Animals appreciate the freedom
Elated dogs allowed to roam
Perhaps these animals are just an excuse
An escape route for an elderly recluse?
By the pond, a few fishing rods are cast
For trout or perhaps answers to the past
But nothing seems to be biting today
The questions appear to be swimming away
So the problems must wait.
Unable to change the bait
Still park life offer reprieves
Even if hearts remain on sleeves
