Funny money

Money. One face, yet many disguises; almost metamorphic.
Funny. Some it can embrace, others it despises; definitely sick.
Some say it can talk, but it cannot be a friend.
Friends you don’t mock. It has too much to amend.
Unlocking privileges,
Yet the unfortunate it cages.
Dreams realised versus dreams in dismay
But even the jealous know that it is here to stay.
Yen, dollar, euro or pound,
Disturbing that it does make the world go round.
Power its twin, catalytic partners in crime.
If only humanity could somehow outshine.
Would the point of its abolishment be missed by an egotistical nation?
Would we lay down our tools, or weapons of poverty and starvation?
Our selfishness perhaps caused humanities decent.
Altering priorities, the ultimate global punishment.
