Sweet & Sour Children

Head on down to picturesque Chinaman’s bay
Serenity? Forget it; the kids are out to play.
With childless couples, paranoid that they stand-out
Some kids sit alone, excluded by others who shout
Given ice-cream to keep them behaved and content
Future memories built with this milky cement.
I want more coke, his stamp follows a frown,
Pass me that ice-cream and Ill settle him down.
These weekend trips, gel the family like glue
With sun blocking umbrellas, letting dreams filter through.
Kites fly overhead with the next generation on tow.
Come back in 30 years for their repeat of this show.
The eskie is open again, and the wife gives him a glare.
Just one for the road. Is it really worth the dare?
Look Gran has been invited, I almost forgot to mention.
Always taken to these functions as she never needs much attention.
Maybe I'm cynical, guess we’ll see over time.
Or perhaps I'm joking and these words just happen to rhyme.
